Mercedes-Benz has recently unveiled a new hybrid hypercar, the Mercedes AMG Project One.
Over this weekend, Mercedes-Benz revealed their Project One hypercar hybrid. The Project One will have a turbocharged 1.6 litre V6 engine, and the combustion portion of the car will be capable of 748 horsepower. Meanwhile, the four electric motors will put out an additional 408 horsepower. The power will go to all four wheels, while the front axle of the car is driven by electric motors. However, according to a spokesperson for the company, the vehicle can only operate completely electrically for about 15 miles.
The Project One has a limited run, and the car maker stopped adding to its list of buyers on March 17th. According to Road & Track, only 275 units will be manufactured. The vehicle will weigh almost 2,2000 pounds, with the chassis alone being 950 lbs.
The Project One will retail for almost $2.4 million dollars when it ships in mid-2018. Meanwhile, Mercedes is planning on fully unveiling their car at this September’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
In all likelihood, you’re not going to get your hands on one of these, unless you’re one of a lucky few, but you can get an idea of what the car will consist of in the accompanying video.
