The wind power industry is undergoing a concerted effort to convince the industry’s lawmakers as well as the Trump administration of the benefits wind power has for the economy. To do this the industry is launching a new heavy advertising campaign, under the banner of American Wind Action. AWA was launched last year to help advocate for policy is friendly to the wind industry. The AWA says it is currently spending millions of dollars on what it has dubbed an education campaign.

The first two of AWA’s adds are called “True American Power” and it focuses on the employees of the wind industry, particularly those in the Midwest. Luke Coady, an employee at a wind turbine blade manufacturing plant-based out of new Iowa says that it is “American-made and very important for the people in this community and people in this nation.”

“We are proud to tell our American-success story of providing reliable power for the country and helping rebuild our nation,” say, Jeff Clark and Sam Enfield, two board members of AWA.

According to Enfield and Clark, polling shows that Americans overall strongly approve of increased use of wind power, and show an understanding of its impacts on both local jobs and economic growth.

“Americans also agree that Washington needs to create a path to energy independence. AWA intends to spread this message more broadly among federal legislators and members of the new Administration,” concludes Enfield and Clark.

The AWA released a commissioned poll on Wednesday, which indicated that around 70% of voters believe increasing use of renewable energy would benefit the economy, and around 55% of voters think it would create jobs in their respective states.
